The arts play a central role in the quality of life for people of all ages and backgrounds. Participation in the arts is especially important for children and youth because it improves performance in school and promotes creative problem-solving, self-discipline, and responsibility. Unfortunately, because Newaygo County is a rural area, exposure to diverse cultural arts is limited, particularly for families with low incomes. NCCS enhances area schools' arts programs and provides Newaygo County families with affordable accessible arts opportunities that they would not otherwise experience.

Goals

• To provide cultural arts opportunities that are affordable and accessible to Newaygo County residents of all ages and backgrounds.

• To enhance the limited cultural arts experiences offered in Newaygo County schools.

• To advocate for the arts in Newaygo County and collaborate to promote cultural growth.
